deer haven homestead
Our home was built in 1887 and sits on a half-acre of woodland surrounded by Jockey Hollow park on two sides.
We have a secure 4 foot high wire and post and rail fence surrounding the yard. We see a lot of lovely wildlife by being so close to a state park, so there's lots of smells and holes to investigate and trees to pee on for our furry guests. Our little homestead is home to a flock of chickens (all hens), a fenced vegetable garden, fruit trees, and an ample sized yard to run around in. The chickens also have their own fenced off area so don't worry if your dog may react poorly to chickens, they cannot reach them to hurt them. I find most dogs interact well with chickens when introduced properly, so don't be surprised if you get pictures of your fur baby cuddled up with a fluffy hen!
Our yard has different features seasonally: dog agility course and training equipment in the warmer months, cuddles by the firepit and sledding in the winter snow, shed hunting (deer antlers) in the early spring, berry foraging and bubble machines in the summer, pumpkin destruction in the late fall, and fetch year round of course!
We're easy to get to, right off two main highways and close to Morristown city center/green.
